Because I love live theatre and the community it creates. I want to give back and help shape the future of this place has helped me so much.
Many moons ago (1990s), I served on the board of the Williamsburg Players, just as we were breaking ground on an expansion. I served as the communications person who did publicity for the theatre. More recently, I served two stints on the vestry at St. John's Episcopal Church, including a term as treasurer and two terms as senior warden (the president of the board, basically). I'm also finishing my job as co-chair on the search committee for a new rector (lead priest) for the church and - last year - served on the search committee for a new bishop for the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia.
I'd like for there to be more educational opportunities, especially for adults. I think there's a real need for theatre as a creative outlet.
