I have been actively involved with Showtimers since moving to Roanoke in 2018. I had just moved to a city where I knew almost no one and needed to find connection. I asked how I could help and was enthusiastically welcomed. I want everyone to feel that same warmth when they walk through these doors.
I have been involved in community theatre since age 7. Straight out of high school, I became a founding member of a fledgling company dependent on donations and creative staging to make productions happen. It turned into a wildly successful company with an original show that ran for over 2 years. I learned more about fundraising, problem-solving, and marketing with that company than any course I have ever taken. I went on to earn my BA in Theatre Arts from the University of New Orleans, an award-winning program that takes pride in making graduates work in all aspects of theatre production. With Showtimers, I've worked as a performer, director, stage manager, producer, costume designer, makeup designer, and more. I've served on the board as the Vice President and, currently, as the Secretary and as a chair for three different committees.
I would love to see a stronger connection between Showtimers and our local colleges and universities. This would give students more opportunities to build their resumes while also creating a pipeline of new designers and performers into community theatre.
