Jamie Stewart

Why are you interested in joining the Board of Directors at Showtimers?

The Board is the governing and guiding body of the theatre. It is their responsibility to make sure the mission of the theatre is upheld in accordance with the bylaws. The board chooses the season so they are acting as artistic directors of the theatre while also overseeing the business and financial side.  Maintaining balance between those two things is key to keeping the theatre running.

What experience do you bring with you?

I have been involved in community theatre for most of my life. I continued my education by graduating from a university that put extensive focus on studying all aspects of theatre and I value that well-rounded approach. Since moving to Roanoke in 2018, I’ve worked on 19 of the 31 productions Showtimers has staged as a performer, stage manager, costume designer, board operator, producer, and director. I have chaired three different committees, helped with countless theatre improvement days and volunteer efforts, and served a full term on the board of directors in 2022 and 2023. My passion and advocacy for the continued success of Showtimers is self-evident.

As a board member, I bring organization, drive, and strategic planning to the table. I believe my experience in customer service, event planning, business management, and recruiting would all serve to advance Showtimers as a business as much as my theatre experience.

What would you like to achieve in your time on the Board of Directors?

I would love for Showtimers to become eligible for grants to improve the aging technology in the theatre and expand our educational offerings.
