Fueled by fear, Macbeth takes to heart the words of the Granny Witches and pressure from his wife, to kill their great leader Duncan, and assume his seat in power. His small Appalachian town watches as their new ruler slowly descends into madness, causing more bloodshed as superstition leads to paranoia.
